What is Dentin Bone Graft

Dentin bone grafting is an innovative technique that emerged in 2010 but has been researched and utilized much earlier than that. This technique involves the use of human teeth as a source of dentin, which is then converted into autologous bone graft material for dental implants and other dental procedures such as socket preservations, GBR, alveolar augmentations, and perio defects.

The use of human teeth as a source of autologous bone graft material has several advantages over traditional bone grafting techniques. For one, it eliminates the need for additional surgery to harvest bone graft material from another part of the patient's body. Additionally, dentin bone graft material has been shown to be highly biocompatible and to stimulate the growth of new bone tissue as well as have the scaffold to preserve that new bone until it’s maturity and lasting sustainability.

The extracted tooth is then mechanically cleaned to remove any soft tissue to prepare it for use as a bone graft material. The dentin is then ground down and sorted into two different size particulates, which can be mixed with other bone grafting materials (if needed) and applied to the site of the implant or other dental procedure after it has been cleansed using a liquid-based sterilization agent.
